BRISTOL CANINE FIRST AID

HEAD’S UP BRISTOL!

IT’S FANTASTIC TO BE BACK and boy have we missed you all.

We are delighted to be back in Bristol again after a couple of years away.  This session, just like all our others, is sure to be fun, lively and incredibly effective at getting the important first aid information across that could well save the life of your furry companion.

*

Having celebrated our 20th Anniversary in December 2021, we are very proud to say that Rhodes 2 Safety has continued to be ranked as the UK’s Number 1 for canine first aid training (every year consecutively since 2016 in the Business Excellence Awards), so you know the information and service you get from us will be second-to-none.  Since our last tour (pre-Covid) we have sadly lost two of our Team with Father and Son Axl and Chi passing away.  We do have two new lunatics joining our number now, however, so you may well get to meet either Dice or Coda …. or the ever faithful old RainBob for smooches.

We deal with shock, bleeding, choking, bites, road traffic accidents as well as the big topics of CPR and Artificial Respiration

Students DO NOT bring their dogs, but I will have one or two of my Ridgebacks with me for demonstration purposes.
.
Each student will gain a certificate of attendance and full course notes to take away, so note taking throughout the session is unnecessary although we are more than happy for students to take their own notes, photographs of the dogs or anything that is put on the whiteboard during the day if they feel it will help them remember techniques or processes.
.
For students attending as part of their vocational studies, the course generates 3 CPD points.
.
During the bandaging section, I will demonstrate on one of my dogs and then students will be put into pairs to allow one to be the first aider and the other to be the doggy patient.  Once the bandage is done, students will then swap so that each not only has an opportunity to apply the dressing but also understands how the dressing feels when applied.  A dog cannot give you any feedback about your skills so by doing it on a person, we can get their honest opinion once the bandage is complete. Human skin also reacts by changing colour and temperature if it is too tight and swells up, another indicator that is more difficult to see on a furry patient.
.
To practice on a toy would not give you any of this feedback and I would not be happy about anybody practising on a live animal until they are proficient.  I am, however, more than happy for our students to torture a human!  Each student will be given a wound dressing and vet wrap to use during their practical training, and will also be allowed to keep and take these home with them at the end of the day.
.

At the end of the session, there will be first aid products on sale too such as our Rhodes 2 Recovery book, bandages, first aid kits, vet wrap, tick pickers etc should you wish to buy or beef up your existing canine first aid kit.

Tickets do go very quickly and there are strict limits on numbers, so if you would like to secure your place, please click the “Buy ticket” button below.
